Brandon has spent the majority of his life in District 5 near the Hosmer area, with a brief period of residency in Tucson, Arizona. Upon returning from Arizona, he was struck by the deteriorating conditions in District 5, particularly after experiencing the efficiency and cleanliness of a well-managed city.
Brandon firmly believes that addressing homelessness is key to solving the issues affecting Hosmer and Pacific Avenue. By helping individuals transition off the streets, the community can reduce the number of petty crimes, which often escalate into more serious offenses within the unhoused population.
For those who refuse housing options, Brandon advocates for responsible intervention. In many cases, individuals who decline housing support have other living arrangements available to them. He supports offering these individuals a choice between rehabilitation services and legal consequences when illegal drug use is involved.
Brandon’s perspective on homelessness is informed by personal experience—upon returning home, he too faced housing insecurity. This experience gives him a unique and empathetic understanding of the challenges at hand and strengthens his resolve to pursue effective, compassionate solutions.
Additionally, Brandon believes that current leadership has made homeownership increasingly unaffordable by overtaxing residents. He proposes lowering taxes for both homeowners and apartment developers as a sustainable way to encourage the development of truly affordable housing, which in turn would naturally reduce rent prices across the district
